Notes of meeting 13th July 2017
This month there were 16 members present.
•Proposal that the club acknowledge the effort by John Blake in establishing and maintaining the club for 9 years by making him an
Honorary Life President was discussed and accepted by the members.
•AWGB benefits have been a discussion point for some time, Rob highlighted some of the main benefits
a.Third party insurance for club events
c.Discount from affiliated suppliers
d.AWGB negotiated discount rates for club equipment (paid separately)
•Phil S provided numbers of paid up members at approx 21 and club funds at approx £1400
•Demonstrator availability (external) very limited many taking bookings for 2019, various options discussed such as visiting other clubs or travelling to Axminster Tools Cardiff. There is a demonstration by Jason Breach on 19th August that we could travel to and buy tools etc at a 5% discount:
The members so far interested in attending are as below, drivers taking 3 or more passengers may claim expenses up to the value of £50.

Pembroke Castle 3 day event in November, Rob has booked a table for the event to enable members to sell their items as well as raising the club profile. Member volunteers are required to man the table. Volunteers so far are:-
•Work in the wood store is necessary to enable the wood to be sold; some members have volunteered to attend with chain saws and progress. The list so far is:-

This month’s competitions were won by Novice section- Rob Dean and open section Gerald Gardiner, well done to you both.
There followed a brain storming session to develop a programme for the coming months, a large diary sheet will be updated and posted on the rear of the store cupboard door. Next month’s demonstration will be a carved Cockerel by Bruce Wright and a turned ball by John Blake and the competition as chosen by Gerald will be a segmented piece of any design.
The hands on for this month will be held on Saturday 29th July in John Blake’s workshop from 10-00 to 17- 00, not in the C21 on the 27th.
Many thanks to all who attended for their interest and their contribution to the discussion and a special thanks to those who have volunteered to undertake tasks.
We are a group of people of varying competences sharing a common interest in woodturning of all sorts.
Our aims as set out in our constitution are:-
1. To foster friendship amongst woodturners in the area.
2. To impart knowledge and expand the craft of woodturning.
Meeting of the club will be held on Second And Fourth Thursday of the month @7.30 pm, at the Pembroke 21c Foundry House(Foundry House, Orange Way, Pembroke, SA71 4DR).
