Our aims as set out in our constitution are:-

2. To impart knowledge and expand the craft of woodturning.
Meeting of the club will be held on Second And Fourth Thursday of the month @7.30 pm, at the Pembroke 21c Foundry House(Foundry House, Orange Way, Pembroke, SA71 4DR).
Some of our Competition entries..
Notes of meeting 12th January 2017
This month there were 14 members present.
This month’s demonstration by Bruce Wright covers the preparation, rough turning and drying of bowels. The use of grease (preferred by Bruce) or PVA to slow and control the drying, the use of these preparations also encourages fungal growth which adds colour to the wood.
Bruce then finish turned one of his dried bowls showing that reverse turning / sanding produced a much better finish as it catches fine grain hairs lying against the direction of rotation.
This Month’s Competition
This month’s competition was won by Gerald G, second John C, John B and Sydney B.
As there was no demonstration the next competition will be any turned and coloured item.
Will be a demonstration by John Blake turning a cabriole style leg, a classical style of leg for furniture. This will involve some offset work.
The March meeting will see the return of our old friend Jon Simpson with his wife, he will be turning something called "A Hot Topic" and if time permits, "A Handy Addition to a Common Place Item".
Please remember your AWGB subs for 2017 are now overdue as they were due on 1st January, please come loaded with gold, it will be £18 for the year.
